What Does IICRC Stand For?

IICRC stands for Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certificate. IICRC is an accredited standards developer member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) ANSI is an accredited and highly-regarded overseer of the development of national consensus standards. ANSI also acts to verify that the standard’s developer has met the requirements for consensus, due process, and other criteria.

The adoption of an American National Standard (ANS) is entirely voluntary. However, various federal, state, or local authorities have selected some standards as regulations or codes. American National Standards are also deemed to be “state of the art” in the field of contamination control.

What Are IICRC Standards?

The IICRC Standards aim to develop general language and terminology that is industry-acceptable. This, in turn, enables a more universal discussion of procedures and concepts with respect to inspection, cleaning, and restoration. Both the insurance industry and the water damage restoration industries abide by the standards set by the IICRC.
